1-Master Study in France (2012.09~2015.11)

My first experience of studying abroad took place from September 2012 to November 2015 in France. During this time, I immersed myself in both the language and culture. From Toulouse to Paris, I earned my maîtrise (first year of master) in LEA (Langues Étrangères Appliquées, applied foreign languages) with a focus on international economic affairs, and obtained my master’s degree in management from a parisian business school, which provided me with a broadened perspective on French economic, social, and cultural life. I forged friendships, particularly with people from Francophone countries, and traveled to fifteen countries to gain exposure to various cultures and ways of life. European life instilled in me a new respect and perspective on the diversity and differences in the world.

2-Master Study in Canada (since Sept 2022)5 points

After seven years back in China, I embarked on my second experience of studying abroad in Canada since September 2022. Proficiency in English and French, along with my international experience, has made me more comfortable with cultural diversity. I actively engaged in volunteering in the community and participated in the Intercultural Ambassadors Program at Thompson Rivers University. Interacting with people from different countries and learning from diverse cultures has facilitated a smoother and faster integration into my new life in Canada. This experience has also provided me with different perspectives on teaching and learning, such as cultural responsive pedagogy, intercultural communication competency, and plurilingual approach.
